Kurtis L. Morgan, 22, of Seaman died Saturday, Aug. 24, 2013 as the result of an accident in Tiffin, Ohio.

He was born April 28, 1991 in Georgetown.

He was a member of Sugar Tree Ridge Church of Christ, the Ohio National Guard, where he had just received a promotion to sergeant the day of the accident, and had served a tour of duty in Afghanistan.

Kurtis was also a graduate of Whiteoak High School Class of 2009, and had just graduated from the UC Clermont College Police Academy and was POTA certified.

Surviving are his wife, Amber N. Morgan, whom he married May 21, 2011; his parents, David and Kayce Morgan of Hillsboro, Michelle and Kent Knoblauch of Hillsboro; father and mother-in-law, Mike and Lori Oney of Seaman; brother, Dakota Morgan of Hillsboro; step-sister, Kody Knoblauch of Hillsboro; brother-in-law, Steven Oney of Florida; grandparents, Harry Delano and Donna Morgan of Hillsboro; grandmother, Linda Halley of Dayton; and great-grandmother, Jewell Lee of Dayton.

Kurtis was preceded in death by his grandfather, Gerald Halley.

A memorial service will be held at Whiteoak High School, Saturday, Aug. 31 at 2 p.m., with Pastor Rob Rhodes officiating. The Ohio National Guard Funeral Honors Squad will conduct full military honors. Following the service, a memorial reception will be held in the Student Center of the high school.

Friends will be received at the high school Saturday 1-2 p.m.

The family suggests contributions be made to the Cincinnati Children's Hospital or the Wounded Warriors Project in Kurtis's memory.
