Julia R. Sowards
Julia R. Sowards, 77, of Peebles, died Friday, June 29, 2012 at the Hospice of Hope, Ohio Valley Inpatient Center.
She was born in Pike County on March 31, 1935, the daughter of the late Edward and Anna (Caplinger) Green.
Besides her parents, she was preceded in death by six brothers, Eldon, Earl, Lucas, Edward, Carl, and Frank "Bud" Green; and five sisters, Jessie Ritchie, Clarice Trimble, Madge Trimble, Ruth Diehl and Maude Thompson.
She attended the Sinking Spring United Methodist Church.
She is survived by her husband, Herb Sowards of Peebles, whom she married on Nov. 13, 1954; one son and daughter-in-law, Buddy and Diana Sowards of Peebles; two daughters and son-in-law, Bonnie Sowards of Peebles, and Shirley and Mike Thompson of Peebles; one sister and brother-in-law, Lanie and Yo Hilderbrand of Indiana; three sisters-in-law, Mickey Green of Sinking Spring, Nancy Green of Indiana, and Wilma Green of Sinking Spring; five grandchildren, Shay, Cortnee, MaCade, Zach and Katelyn; and two great-grandchildren, Sylvia and Sawyer; and special friends, Sara and Terry.
Services will be 1 p.m. Tuesday, July 3 at the Wylie-Thompson Funeral Home in Sinking Spring with Greg Seaman officiating. Burial will follow in the Washburn Cemetery.
Friends may call on Tuesday from 11 a.m.-1 p.m. at the Wylie-Thompson Funeral Home.
