Juanita Mae (Hilliard) Carson, 93, of Greenfield, passed away Thursday, Jan. 12, 2012 at Hearth & Care Rehabilitation and Nursing.
She was born in Greenfield on Jan. 21, 1918, the daughter of Pearl and Faye (Sharp) Hilliard.
She was the owner/operator of the former Elegant Junk Shop in Greenfield for 23 years; a charter member of the Greenfield Hobby Club; a member of the Hillsboro Garden Club, where she received many first place and best of show awards; a member of the Red Hat Society; and a member of Bridge Club. She attended the Good Shepherd Church of Greenfield most of her life and recently attended the First Baptist Church of Greenfield. Juanita loved spending time with her family and friends.
She is survived by two sons, Robert E., Jr. (Glenda) and William (Pam), both of Greenfield; one daughter, Mary Kathryn (Ed) Schmidt of Columbus; six grandchildren, Suzanne Barker of Columbus, Stephanie Ward of Columbus, Christine Boyce of Seattle, Jeff Carson of Beavercreek, Elizabeth Carson-Murphy of Greenfield and Jennifer Yelle of Fairport, N.Y.; 15 great-grandchildren; seven great-great-grandchildren; one sister, Kathryn "Babe" Bowers of Maysville, Ky.; and several nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her spouse, Robert E. Carson, Sr., whom she married on April 13, 1935; both parents; and a brother, Herbert "Dean" Hilliard.
A celebration of life service will be held 11 a.m. Tuesday, Jan. 17 at the Murray-Fettro Funeral Home in Greenfield with Pastor Tim Mohon officiating. Burial will follow in the Greenfield Cemetery.
Visitation will be from 4-7 p.m. Monday.
In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to First Baptist Church, 250 Lafayette St., Greenfield, OH 45123; or Heartland Hospice, P.O. Box 400, Lucasville, OH 45648.
