Joseph Cameron Newland, 78, of Hillsboro, died Sunday afternoon, Feb. 7, 2010 at his home.
He was born April 5, 1931 in Hillsboro (Marshall Township), Ohio, the son of the late Harry Othel and Dorothy Mae (Sharp) Newland.
Mr. Newland had been a welder for Armco Steel in Washington CH, Ohio, retiring after 31 years of service. He was a 1949 graduate of Fairfield High School. He was a member and past Master (1982) of the Leesburg Lodge #78 F&AM, a member of the Leesburg Chapter #57 Order of Eastern Star, a member of the Scottish Rite Valley of Cincinnati, the Highland County Scottish Rite Club and the Leesburg United Methodist Church.
He is survived by his wife, Patricia King Newland, whom he had married on July 11, 1954 at the East Monroe United Methodist Church; one daughter and son-in-law, Jennifer and John McCane of Loveland, Ohio; one grandson, Adam (Jennifer) Morgan of Hattiesburg, Miss.; one sister-in-law, Betty Curtis of Wilmington; and several nieces and nephews.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by two infant daughters.
Services are incomplete at the Turner & Son Funeral Home in Hillsboro.
