John Richard Larkin
John Richard Larkin, 82, of Greenfield, passed away Tuesday, July 17, 2012 at Edgewood Manor of Greenfield.
He was born July 26, 1929 in Greenfield, the son of Richard A. and Dorothy (Conklin) Larkin.
He graduated in 1947 from Upper Arlington High School and went to Wilmington College for two years, where he became a member of Gamma Phi Gamma, and then transferred to Ohio State University, where he graduated with a bachelor of science in agriculture. He was a member of the Highland County Farm Bureau and was a retired farmer. He served in the U.S. Army during the Korean War and was a member of the First Presbyterian Church of Greenfield.
He is survived by his wife, Mary Ann (Sommers) Larkin, whom he married on July 30, 1961; one son, John R. “Jay” (Theresa) Larkin, Jr. of Marysville; two granddaughters, Taylor and Rachel; one brother, David (Maggie) Larkin of Greenfield; one nephew, Tim Larkin of Cynthiana, Ky.; and one niece, Kathryn Larkin Nugent of Wilton, Conn.
He was preceded in death by both parents and stepmother, Mable Smith Larkin.
Funeral services will be held 11 a.m. Tuesday, July 24, 2012 at the First Presbyterian Church of Greenfield with Rev. Terry Washburn officiating. Burial will follow in Pleasant Hill Cemetery in Leesburg.
Visitation will be from 5-8 p.m. Monday, July 23, 2012 at the Murray-Fettro Funeral Home in Greenfield.
