John Lowell "J.L." Walker

John Lowell "J.L." Walker, 88, of Hillsboro, died Friday, September 21, 2012 at the Laurels of Hillsboro. He was born March 2, 1924, in Fairfax, the son of the late Fred and Elva Jane (Nace) Walker.

He was a member of the Raymond R. Stout American Legion Post 129, Hillsboro VFW Post 9094 and the Rocky Fork AmVets Post 61.

He was a World War II veteran of the United States Navy, and had retired from the United States Postal Service after over twenty-five years of service.

On April 24, 1950, in Belfast, he married his wife of 62 years, Joanne (Kelley) Walker, and she survives. He is also survived by three children, Nola Dell Walker of Hillsboro, Kelley Walker of Niles, and Glenna Walker of Dodge City, Kansas; one sister, Marilyn Pattison of Georgetown, and three brothers, Harold Walker of Hillsboro, Joseph (Janet) Walker of Batavia and Hugh (Henrietta) Walker of South Carolina.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a brother-in-law, Keith Pattison.

In keeping with his wishes, he was cremated.

Funeral services will be private at the convenience of the family. There will be no visitation.
