John Holond, 80, of Hillsboro, died Monday, Jan. 31, 2011 at the Miami Valley Hospital in Dayton.

He was born Dec. 17, 1930 on Breathitt County, Ky.

He was a beloved husband, father, and grandfather.

He is survived by his wife, Viola Jones Holond; brother, Willie (Imogene) Hollon of Hillsboro; six sons, Billy Joe (Gayla) Hollon, Randall (Fannie) Hollon, and Lonnie (Debbie) Hollon, all of Kentucky, Gary (Rhonda) Hollon and John (Mona) Hollon, Jr., of Hillsboro, and Donald (Julie) Hollon of Dresden, Ohio; four daughters, Linda Sue (Paul) Wigglesworth, and Brenda (Larry) Sears, of Kentucky, and Janet (Brian) Littleton, and Ellie Hollon of Hillsboro; 17 grandchildren, Jodey (Michella) Hollon, William (Jennifer) Hollon, Randy Hollon, Melissa (Tony) Connors, Brian (Angela) Hollon, Michael Hollon, Kelley, Wade Banks, Angela, and Tracey, all of Kentucky, Michael (Kaitlan) Hollon, Daniel (Anna) Hollon, and Kyle Hollon, all of Hillsboro, Sierra Hollon, Zachary Hollon, and Madyson Hollon, all of Dresden, Ohio, and Dakota Holond of Hillsboro; three step-grandchildren, Alivia Taggert, Michael Winkle, and Raychal Blackburn; 13 great-grandchildren; three nieces, Renda Nickell and Vonda Young of Hillsboro and Sandy Mettler of Bainbridge; nephew Benny Hollon of Bainbridge; and several cousins.

In addition to his parents, he is preceded in death by one brother, Oldham Hollon.

Funeral services will be held 2 p.m. Friday, Feb. 4, 2011 at the Turner & Son Funeral Home, Hillsboro. Burial will follow in the Hillsboro Cemetery. Visitation will be held on Friday from noon until the time of service at 2 p.m. at the funeral home.
