John Fredrick 'Fred' Fender

John Fredrick "Fred" Fender, 84, of Lynchburg, died Friday, Feb. 17, 2012 at his residence.

He was born July 26, 1927 in Clay Township, Highland County, on the family farm, the son of the late John A. Fender.

He was also preceded in death by two sisters, Ivy Jean Marshall and Eileen Moore; two brothers, Tad and Carey Fender.

He retired after 32 years of service from General Motors in Norwood. After retiring, he returned to the family farm which he truly loved, along with his family and going to old car shows.

He was a member of the Gospel Baptist Church in Cincinnati and attended the Hollowtown Church of Christ.

On Oct. 8, 1955 he was united in marriage to Lucy Jane (Tipton) Fender who survives. He is also survived one daughter and son-in-law, Elizabeth Fay and Doug Heyne, Sr. of Mt. Orab; one grandson, Doug Heyne, Jr.; one brother, Melvin Fender of Lynchburg; one sister, Ann Griffith of Lynchburg; several nieces, nephews and a host of friends.

Services will be 2 p.m. Saturday, Feb. 25 at the Thompson Funeral Home in Hillsboro.

Burial will follow in the Union Cemetery near Taylorsville.

Friends may call Saturday from 11 a.m.-2 p.m. at the Thompson Funeral Home.
