Jim Richmond, 83, of Hillsboro died Tuesday evening Oct. 9, 2012 at the Heartland of Hillsboro.
He was born May 16, 1929 in Garrett, Ky., the son of the late Earl Wesley and Bessie Kerr Richmond.
Mr. Richmond had worked for the White's Foundry in Hillsboro for a short period of time, had retired from the Randall Company in Wilmington after 35 years of service and had worked for the Hillsboro City Schools in the Ag Building and the Scott House Building for 12 years. He was and member and served as a deacon at the Samantha Freewill Baptist Church.
He is survived by three children, Pat (Ron) Ashley of Leesburg, Connie (Tony) Cannon of Leesburg and Mike (Nancy) Richmond of Cincinnati; four grandchildren, Josh (Stacy) Ashley of Lynchburg, Chad (Lisa) Cannon of Leesburg, Dan (Becky) Cannon of Leesburg and Jessi Neff of Cincinnati; four great-grandchildren, Samara Cannon of Leesburg, Tytis Cannon of Leesburg, Jayden Neff of Cincinnati and Addison Grace Cannon of Leesburg; four brothers, Jack Richmond of Jeffrey, W.Va., Kenneth Richmond of Hillsboro, David (Darlene) Richmond of Hillsboro and Danny (Linda) Richmond of Hillsboro; and three sisters, Dottie Minzler of Hillsboro, Dorothy (Bob) Kratzer of Hillsboro and Lee (Jim) Roberts of Chillicothe.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Lucy Mae Davis Richmond on Feb. 22, 2008. They had been married on Sept. 14, 1946 in Maysville, Ky. He was also preceded in death by two sisters, Betty Davis and Ann Lewis, as well as an infant brother and an infant sister. Services will be held 2 p.m. Saturday, Oct. 13 at the Samantha Freewill Baptist Church. Rev. Wiley Perkins will officiate. Burial will follow in the Dunkard Ridge Cemetery. Friends may call on Friday from 5-8 p.m. at the Samantha Freewill Baptist Church.
