Jenna Lou Carnes, 67, of Wellsville, Ohio, died Sunday, Dec. 20, 2009 at her home.
She was born Jan. 28, 1942 in Ross County, Ohio, the daughter of Paul and Edith (Fuller) Ransdell.
She graduated valedictorian of her class in 1960 from Buckskin. She attended Ohio University and majored in Vocational Home Economics. She received her Masters from Ohio University in 1966. Jenna began teaching in Xenia, Ohio and retired from Chillicothe High School in June 1990 after 25 years. Teaching was her life and first great interest. Jenna was a member, Sunday School teacher, and clerk of session for the Concord Presbyterian Church in Frankfort, Ohio. She was also a member of the Ohio Retired Teachers Association, Ross County Farm Bureau, and Phi Upsilon Omicron (National Honor Society in Family & Consumer Sciences).
She is survived by many cousins, including Janice Knisley, Sandy Free, Jim McDaniels, and Bill Ickinger; and friend Judy Miller and family.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Jon David Carnes, on Aug. 18, 2004.
Services will be held 11 a.m. Wednesday, Dec. 23, 2009 at the Murray-Fettro Funeral Home in Greenfield with Rev. Todd Thomas officiating. Burial will follow in the South Salem Cemetery. A visitation will be held 4-8 p.m. Tuesday, Dec. 22, 2009.
