Jasper S. Oppy

Jasper S. Oppy, 74, of Hillsboro, died Sunday, Feb. 9, 2014 at his residence.
He was born in Hillsboro on April 15, 1939, the son of the late Arthur H. Oppy and Mary (Holt) Buchholz.
Besides his parents, he was preceded in death by one grandson, Jacob Oppy; two brothers, Earl Andrew and William H. “Bill” Oppy; and one sister, Mildred Oppy.
He retired from Ford motor Company after 35 years, member of Highland County Senior Citizens & Hillsboro Amvet Post #61.
He is survived by his wife, Doris (Hedger) Oppy, whom he married on Sept. 23, 1994; two sons, Rick (Barb) Oppy of Lebanon and Randy (Joaquina) Oppy of Norwood; four daughters, Rhonda Oppy of Lebanon, JoAnn (Dale) Canter of Hillsboro, Jennifer Criscillis of Morrow and Judy (Bart) Fox of Morrow; three brothers, Wayne (Lavina) Oppy of Hillsboro, Kenny Oppy of Hillsboro and Arthur Carroll (Karen) Oppy of Rittman; two sisters, Violet Niblick of Palm Bay, Fla. and Betty (Jim) Jacobs of Centerville; a sister-in-law, Mary Oppy of Wilmington; 13 grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren.
Services will be noon Wednesday, Feb. 12 at the Thompson Funeral Home with Military Rites by the Highland County Honor Guard.
Visitation will be 6-8 p.m. Tuesday and on Wednesday from 11 a.m.-noon at the Thompson Funeral Home.
