Jane Ann McKown, 86, of Greenfield, died Monday, Jan. 17, 2011 at Adena Regional Medical Center of Chillicothe.

She was born Dec. 18, 1924 in Greenfield to the late Ralph W. and Hazel Mae (Smith) Hull.

Jane was a retired registered nurse at Greenfield Area Medical Center. She served in the U.S. Army Cadet Nurse Corps during World War II. She graduated from McClain High School, received her nurse's training at Christ Hospital in Cincinnati, and received her B.S. degree from Ohio University in Athens. She was a member of the Greenfield First United Methodist Church, the Eastern Star, and the Appalachian Artisan Guild.

On May 1, 1948, she married Capt. James William McKown, who survives. Also surviving are two children, Janet Ann (Dr. Thomas) Beyl of Washington C.H. and Dr. James T. (Kimberly) McKown of Hillsboro; two grandchildren, Thomas James Beyl and Kathryn Underwood; two great-grandchildren, Jonathan and Sonia Beyl; two step-grandchildren, David E. Soprano and Amberlyn Brethauer; and two step-great-grandchildren, Alexis and Rayanne Sprinkle.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by a brother, Edwin Hull.

Following cremation, a memorial service will be held at a later date at Anderson-Strueve Funeral Home in Greenfield.
