James T. “Tom” Davis, 81, of Lynchburg, died Thursday morning, Nov. 1, 2012 at his home.
He was born March 21, 1931 in Lynchburg, the son of the late Kester K. and Callie Puckett Davis.
Mr. Davis had retired as a postal worker for the U.S. Mail Service after 35 years of service. He was a U.S. Army veteran of the Korean War, serving in Germany. He had served as a director for the Home Builders Association in Lynchburg for over 30 years and was presently serving on the board of directors for the Southern Hills Community Bank.
He is survived by his wife, Clo Hopkins Davis, whom he had married on Aug. 12, 1956 in Lynchburg; one daughter, Nancy (Jeffrey) Kipnis of Chicago; one son, Todd (Teresa) Davis of Hillsboro; one granddaughter, May Kipnis of Chicago; and one brother-in-law, Bob Swingley of Hillsboro.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by one brother, Bill Davis; and two sisters, Marianna Cribbet and Carolyn Swingley.
Services will be held 1 p.m. Saturday, Nov. 3 at the Davis-Turner Funeral Home in Lynchburg. Bill Pierce will officiate. Burial will follow in the Lynchburg Masonic Cemetery. Friends may call on Saturday from 11 a.m. until 1 p.m. at the Davis-Turner Funeral Home in Lynchburg.
