James Robert Crabtree, 65, of Leesburg, died Sunday morning, Oct. 14, 2012 at his home.
He was born Jan. 14, 1947 in Greenfield, the son of the late Harry Jay and Doris Jean Chain Crabtree. Mr. Crabtree had worked as a lineman for the B & O Railroad for several years and later worked for Mac Tool Company in Washington Court House. He was a 1965 graduate of Fairfield High School, a U.S. Army veteran of the Vietnam War, served as Commander of the American Legion Post 568 in Leesburg and was currently serving as the Post Financial Officer.
He is survived by two children, Jamey (Crystal) Crabtree of Leesburg and Kim (Mike Corcoran) Powell of Leesburg; three grandchildren, Malia Crabtree, Skyler and Conner Powell; one brother, Jeff Crabtree of Leesburg; two nephews, Clint Crabtree of Leesburg and Troy Crabtree of Highland; and several cousins.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Linda Darlene Crabtree, on Oct. 27, 2003; two brothers, John Crabtree and Gary Roger Crabtree; and three cousins, Grant and Steve Crabtree and Lisa Preston.
A celebration of Jim's life will be held 1 p.m. Saturday, Oct. 27 at the Leesburg American Legion Post 568, 3 West Main Street, Leesburg, Ohio. The Turner Funeral Home and Crematory is serving the family.
