James Robert (Bob) Meacham, 81, of Hillsboro, died Thursday, Aug. 11, 2011 at the Magnolia Manor Assisted Living Facility in St. Simons, Ga.
He was born in Bellevue on May 11, 1930 and was the son of the late Marion Elmer and Marguerite Elizabeth (Summers) Meacham.
He was an insurance agent for Inter-Ocean Insurance and Nationwide Insurance for many years. He was a loving and caring brother, father, and grandfather. He was a member of the Prospect United Methodist Church. He had many hobbies some of which included farming and wood working, as well as, many interests including watching the Price Is Right, visiting with family and friends, taking care of his cat Daisy, and going to garage sales.
Besides his parents, he was preceded in death by one sister, Susanne Elizabeth Meacham; and his wife, Lois Ann (Kaiser) Meacham.
He is survived by two brothers, Philip Marion and Loretta Meacham of Bellevue, David Francis Meacham of Lake Charles, La.; two sons, James Robert "Jim" Meacham, Jr. of Hillsboro and Paul Lee Meacham of Hillsboro; three daughters and two sons-in-law, Cynthia Ann Meacham of Barstow, California, Diane Carol and Thomas Barth of Chantilly, Va., and Marilyn Sue and Frank Aspinwall of Kingsland, Ga., and four grandchildren, Gary Edward Linville of Barstow, Calif., Rebecca Ashlee Aspinwall of Statesboro, Ga., Jonathan Taylor Aspinwall of Kingsland, Ga., and Rachael Nicole Barth of Chantilly, Va.
Memorial services will be held on Saturday, Sept. 3 at 2:30 p.m. at the Prospect United Methodist Church with Ken Woleab and Ed Johnson officiating.
Thompson Funeral Home in Hillsboro is in charge of arrangements.
