James F. McDonald

James F. McDonald, 76, of Lynchburg, died Wednesday afternoon, June 25, 2014 at his home.
He was born Feb. 24, 1938 in Greenfield, the son of the late Clay and Kathryn “Babe” Hilliard McDonald.
Mr. McDonald had retired after 30 years of service as a meat cutter, was a veteran of the U.S. Navy and the U.S. Air Force Reserves and was an avid golfer and bowler. He was a member of the Hillsboro VFW Post 9094 and the Wilmington Fraternal Order of Eagles Aerie 1224.
He is survived by his wife, Janet Morgan McDonald, whom he had married on Aug. 7, 1970 in Richmond, Ky.; three sons, Michael (Rita) McDonald of Lynchburg, Gary (Melissa) McDonald of Land of Lakes, Fla. and Richard (Alona) Vogel of Hillsboro; one daughter, Anita McDonald of Middletown; seven grandchildren, Danielle, Josh, Jennifer, RJ, Adrien, Kelly and Julie; four great-grandchildren, Maceala, Michael, Lily and Wyatt; one brother, Gary (Joann) Bowers of Aberdeen; and four sisters, Linda McDonald of Springville, Calif., Sandy Ethridge of Alabama, Patty Farmer of Colorado and Cathy (Ed) Dunn of Lexington, Ky.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his stepfather, George Bowers; one son, Fred McDonald; and one granddaughter, Lindsey McDonald.
Mr. McDonald’s wishes were that at his death he be cremated. A celebration of life will be held 1 p.m. Sunday, June 29 at the home of Michael McDonald, 6961 S.R. 134 Lynchburg, Ohio.
