Isabelle Hope Black, 88, of Greenfield, passed away to her eternal rest on Wednesday, Oct. 20, 2010 at the SEM Haven Health Care in Milford.
She was born Oct. 1, 1922 at the "Point" near Rainsboro. She was the daughter of the late Raymond and Mildred (Grover) Hope.
After graduating from Edward Lee McClain High School in 1940, she married Nelson L. Black on June 19, 1940. They lived at the "Point" the first two years of their marriage, then moved to their Greenfield home, where they resided for 54 years until Nelson's death in Aug. 1996. She was a Girl Scout leader for many years and a member of the 20th Century Club. Isabelle was a member of Greenfield First United Methodist Church, where she was the secretary for 21 years. Her caring nature reached beyond her immediate family and touched many family members and friends.
