Isabel Baldwin, 85, of Leesburg died Sunday, March 25, 2012 at the Hearth and Care in Greenfield.

She was born July 20, 1926 in Leesburg, the daughter of the late Harley and Pauline Perie Tompkins.

Mrs. Baldwin graduated from Fairfield High School and went to work for Nationwide Insurance Company. After her marriage on Dec. 22, 1951, she along side of her husband and best friend, Robert “Bud” Baldwin, farmed the family farm.

She was well known for her baking and canning, winning many blue ribbons at the Highland County Fair.

She is survived by three nieces, Brenda Cornett of Hillsboro, Tracy Taylor of Leesburg and Shari Gaffney of Hudson, Mass., three nephews, Don W. Smith of Wilmington, Jeff Taylor and Steve Taylor of Leesburg; two sisters, Betty Taylor of Leesburg and Mary Ann (Fred) Fearing of Hudson, Mass., one aunt, Lorene Perie of Leesburg; a special daughter, Debi (Brian) Back of Leesburg; a special grandson, Dale Back of Leesburg; and a lifelong friend, Juanita Opperman Marcum of Bucyrus.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Robert Harrison “Bud” Baldwin on April 22, 2011; five sisters, Ruth Ellen Smith, Jane Rhonemus, Donna Jean Tompkins, Bertie Lou Tompkins and Sara Paulson; and one brother, Harold Tompkins.

Services will be held 2 p.m. Thursday, March 29 at the Turner Funeral Home in Leesburg. Pastor George Vastine will officiate. Burial will follow in the Bridges Cemetery at Hardin’s Creek. Friends may call on Wednesday from 5-7 p.m. at the Turner Funeral Home in Leesburg.
