Irene Davis Stroop, 77, of Hillsboro, died Thursday, March 1, 2012 at her residence.

She was born Nov. 27, 1934 in Adams County, the daughter of the late McClellan and Edna (Turner) Davis.

She is survived by one son, David Humphrey of Hillsboro; one daughter and son-in-law, Sandy and Dave Ballein of Hillsboro; five grandchildren, Stacey Humphrey, McClellan Humphrey, Steve Howland, Jodie Burke and Jesse Davis; 13 great-grandchildren; three great-great-grandchildren; two brothers and sisters-in-law, Wib and Ruth Davis of Hillsboro and Dale and Barbara Davis of Mason; two sisters and brother-in-law, Karen Davis of Rainsboro and Jean and John Gieseking of Beckley, W.Va.; one sister-in-law, Sharon Davis of Hillsboro; several nieces, nephews and cousins; and a host of friends.

Besides her parents, she was preceded in death by one daughter, Yami; and three brothers, Bill, Danny and Wayne Davis.

Funeral services will be held 2 p.m. Sunday, March 4, 2012 at the Thompson Funeral Home in Hillsboro.

Rev. John Little will officiate with burial to follow in the New Market Baptist Cemetery.

Friends may call Sunday from noon until 2 p.m. at the Thompson Funeral Home.
