Hunter W. Hurt, Sr.

Hunter W. Hurt, Sr., 87, of Lynchburg, passed away Friday, July 6, 2012 at Continental Manor in Blanchester.
He was born May 18, 1925, in Hardburly, Ky., the son of the late Jackson and Mary E. (Green) Hurt.
He was a member of the Faith Baptist Church in Lynchburg, and had retired from the Ford Motor Company after 30 years of service. He was a veteran of both the United States Navy and the United States Army.
He is survived by four children, Hunter W. “Rick” Hurt, Jr. and his wife, Vickie, of Lynchburg, Alda Joanne Horne of Wilmington, Jackie Rawlins and her husband, Donald, of Lynchburg and Helen Owens and her husband, Terry, of Beechmont; 15 grandchildren; 15 great-grandchildren; a brother, Charley (Clara) Hurt of Lynchburg; and a sister, Lois Chestnut of North Carolina.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife of 54 years, Christine (Farmer) Hurt, on March 10, 2006; two sons, Nathan Andrew Hurt and James Christopher Hurt; four brothers, Ollie James Hurt, Nathan Hurt, Joe Hurt and Jackson Hurt; and a sister, Alda Hurt.
Services will be 10 a.m. Wednesday, July 11 at the Faith Baptist Church in Lynchburg. Pastor Robert Miller will officiate. Burial with military honors presented by the Highland County Honor Guard will follow in the Hillsboro Cemetery. Visitation will be from 6-8 p.m. Tuesday, July 10 at the Davis-Turner Funeral Home in Lynchburg.
