Homer Edward Frost passed away July 19, 2010 at the V.A. Hospital in Chillicothe, surrounded by loving family.
Born to the late Stanley and Bessie Lee Morris Frost, April 9, 1923, Homer attended school in Hillsboro. He married Maxine Griffith in 1942. He was a veteran of World War II with the Army/Air Corp, serving in the South Pacific, and a member of the National Guard. Homer worked as a welder/fabricator in Cincinnati, owned his own welding business, and worked for ODOT and Wells Toy Factory. Later in life, he worked for Hills and Dales. As a member of the Allensburg Church of Christ, he served as a deacon. He was instrumental in the church’s bus ministry, both driving and maintaining the bus. He and Maxine spent many hours working with the youth. Later, he enjoyed his Sunday school class and the many activities they shared.
He was preceded in death by his parents, half-brother Wilbur Frost, and half-sisters, Mildred Gibson, Goldie Mullenix and Leondas Johnson.
He is survived by his wife, Maxine, daughter, Barbara Wirick (Hillsboro), sons Darryl Frost (Lynchburg) and Ron Frost (Hillsboro) and daughter, Penny (Tim) McGinnis (Mount Orab), special nephew Russell Creed, and friend of the family John Otey. Known affectionately to his grandchildren as “Pa,” he is survived by nine grandchildren and two step-grandchildren, 13 great-grandchildren, and four step-great-grandchildren. He is also survived by his sister, Bettie Jean Faulkner (Chillicothe), and many nieces and nephews.
A celebration of his life will be held Saturday, July 24 at 3 p.m. at the Allensburg Church of Christ with Bob Stevens and nephew Pastor Jeremy Griffith officiating. There will be a meal following the service. The family will receive friends from 2-3 p.m.
