Hollis Brooks “Bill” Hufford, 90, of Hillsboro, died Thursday evening, Oct. 13, 2011 at the Highland District Hospital.
He was born May 28, 1921, in Pennsboro, W.Va., a son of the late Arthur C. and Alpha D. (Mullenax) Hufford.
He was a World War II veteran of the United States Navy and later served in the United States Army as well. He had retired from the Rotary Forms Press in Hillsboro and was a member of the Northview Baptist Church.
On April 16, 1954, in West Union, he married his wife of 57 years, Georgia M. (Holcomb) Hufford, and she survives.
He is also survived by two daughters, Janice K. Rogers and her husband Francis D., and Scarlett R. Thomas and her husband Dr. W. Dalton., both of Hillsboro; three granddaughters, Nicole H. Donley of Hillsboro, Paige Emling of Athens, Ohio and Brooke Emling of Hillsboro; one great-granddaughter, Autumn Donley of Hillsboro; and a sister, Mary Palguta of Easton, Md.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by one brother, Wade Hufford and a sister, Freddie Hufford.
Funeral services will be noon Monday, Oct. 17, 2011 at the Turner & Son Funeral Home in Hillsboro. Brother Jeff Griffin will officiate. Burial with military honors presented by the Highland County Honor Guard will follow in the New Vienna IOOF Cemetery.
