Helen Morgan Roe Hemmings, 91 of Seaman, died Sunday, Feb. 26, 2012 at the Oakview Retirement Home in Seaman.

Mrs. Hemmings was born in Lewis County, Ky. (Head of Grassy) July 15, 1920, to the late Emory and Hersie Bloomfield Morgan.

She worked for the shoe factory in Vanceburg, Ky., and later Ripley, during World War II. She was a homemaker, housewife and farm operator of several years.

Helen came to know Jesus Christ as her savior when she was 19 years old. She was a member of the Winchester Baptist Church in Winchester, Ohio for 60 years.

Surviving are one son and daughter-in-law; James Roe and Melissa of Milford; and three sisters, Thelma Dillow of Firebrick, Ky., Eva Mae Lewis of Portsmouth and Nancy West of Galion; and two granddaughters, Jerusha Susanna and Louisa Kim Roe.

She was preceded in death by her husbands Kenneth Edward Roe (1965) and Benjamin Kyle Hemmings (1998).

A service to celebrate her life will be held on Thursday, March 1 at 10 a.m. at the Winchester Baptist Church, 19089 St. Rt. 136 Winchester, with Pastor Steve Bankhead and James Roe officiating. Burial will be at the Cherry Fork Cemetery.

Visitation will be on Wednesday, Feb. 29 from 6-8 p.m. at the Wallace-Thompson Funeral Home, Lewis-Sullivan Chapel in Seaman. Visits may also be made from 9-10 a.m. at the Winchester Baptist Church prior to the funeral service.

Interment will be at the Cherry Fork Cemetery.

Memorials are suggested to Winchester Baptist Church.
