Glenna Elaine Barr

Glenna Elaine Barr, 79, of Greenfield, passed away Saturday, Aug. 17, 2013 after a lingering illness at her home surrounded by her loved ones.
She was born Oct. 12, 1933 in Carter County, Ky., the daughter of Leander McGuire and Bethel M. (Bowling) Jennings.
She was a member of the First Baptist Church in Greenfield, the Order of the Ohio Eastern Star, Delta Kappa Gamma Sorority, Highland County Retired Teachers Association, Ohio Retired Teachers Association, Hobby Club, The Red Hat Society, History Club, 20th Century Club and the Greenfield Historical Society. She retired from the Greenfield Exempted Village Schools as a long time third grade elementary school teacher.
She was a volunteer at the Adena Greenfield Medical Center as well as the Greenfield Christian Center. She was a graduate of the Xenia High School and earned a Bachelor’s Degree from Ohio University and a Master’s Degree from Ohio State University. She is survived by three sons, Gregory (Karen) Barr of Greenfield, Gary (Teah) Barr of Blanchester and David Barr of Columbus; one daughter, Amy (Ron) Lewis of Springport, Ind.; eight grandchildren, Kristen Barr, Gary Marcus Barr, Lindsey Barr, Ashley Barr, Adam Barr, Hannah Lewis, Emma Lewis and Connor Lewis; one great-granddaughter, Aubrey Barr.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Roy E. Barr, on Nov. 7, 2009; and both parents.
Services will be 2 p.m. Thursday, Aug. 22 at the Murray-Fettro Funeral Home in Greenfield with Pastor Tim Mohon officiating. Burial will follow in the Greenfield Cemetery.
Visitation will be 4-8 p.m. Wednesday at the funeral home.
Eastern Star service will be held 7:30 p.m. Wednesday.
