Georgia Ann Bailey, 87, of Wilmington, went to the Lord on Wednesday, Dec. 7, 2011.

She was born April 13, 1924 near Portsmouth to Lena (Rider) and George Gabbert.

Ann was beloved by all who knew her as she taught school in the East Clinton district and ministered to her friends at Butlerville United Methodist Church. She earned her bachelor's degree at Wilmington College at the age of 52 and her master's at Xavier University at 56. She was devoted to her family and friends and served wherever she could in her church and her community.

She is survived by her brother, George; her daughter, Ruth (Richard) Burton of Centerville; son George (Colleen) Bailey of Martinsville; dear friend Chris (Missy) Townsend of Connecticut; grandchildren Joe (Jennifer) Burton of California, Rich (Angie) Burton of Alaska, Amber (Tom) Struckman and Heather (Jay) Bruns of Ohio, Holly (Brad) McAlister and Libby (Chris) Rose of Oklahoma and Spencer Bailey of Washington; 19 great-grandchildren; and two great-great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by husband of 60 years, Everett Lafayette Bailey; one brother; one sister; two granddaughters; and one great-grandson.

Ann bequeathed her body to the School of Medicine at the University of Cincinnati. A memorial service will be held Sunday, Dec. 18 at 3 p.m. at the Butlerville United Methodist Church, 8494 state Route 132, Pleasant Plain, Ohio. Contributions in honor of her life may be made to the church. The Fisher-Edgington Funeral Home is serving the family.
