Gary E. Tolle
Gary E. Tolle, 89, of New Vienna, passed away at Bethesda North Hospital in Cincinnati on Aug. 18, 2025 surrounded by family.
He was born Nov. 13, 1935, the son of the late Gleason and Blanche (Swearingen) Tolle.
Gary worked for Holland Motors in Blanchester and National Cash Register in Dayton before quitting his job to open his business selling campers at his house in New Vienna. He later opened his business, Tolle Auto and Camper Sales, at the edge of New Vienna, featuring a state of the art showroom, selling new campers as well as holding a Chrysler Plymouth Dealership. He later owned and operated a mobile home park in Ocala, Fla. where he and his wife, Arlene, wintered for many years.
Gary was a licensed real estate agent for Darbyshire and Associates in Wilmington. He later started his business, Highland Trading Company, buying and trading everything including golf carts, ATVs and used farm equipment. He was the family's steady rock anytime they needed him. He was the happiest when he was hard at work wheeling and dealing. Gary was a devoted member of Mt. Olive Church of Christ, serving as a deacon for many years. He was also a member of Dalton Lodge 578 F&AM and Valley of Cincinnati Scottish Rite.
He is survived by his wife, Charilyn Tolle, whom he married in 2022; daughters, Debbie (Doug Bentley) Tolle, Cindy (Andy) Pauckner and Lisa Archibald; grandchildren, Joshua Daye, Jaime (Scott) Barrett, Emily (Marino) Pellegrini and Rachael (Jack) Wulker; stepgranddaughter, Charity (Jeff) Lockard; great-grandchildren, Aiden and Teagan Barrett, Finley and Denver Wulker; stepchildren, Brett (Cassy) Prickett, Bart ( Justin) Prickett, Brian (Tammy) Prickett, and Paula Prickett; sister - Carol (Roy) Butler; nephews Jim Butler and Patrick McCarthy; and a niece, Vicki Butler.
He was preceded in death by his parents; his first wife, Arlene Tolle; son in- law, Tom Archibald; sister and brother in-law, Janet and Charles Moore; sister in-law and brother in- law, Barbara and Danny McCarthy; and stepson, Brad Prickett.
Services will be held at Mt. Olive Church of Christ, 10021 Mad River Road, New Vienna, on Friday, Aug. 22 at 1 p.m. with Kenny Zugg and Mike Labig officiating. Interment will follow in the Mount Olive Cemetery, New Vienna. Friends will be received at the church from 11 a.m. until the time of the services.
