Furmon M. Kirby, 67, of Lynchburg, died Saturday, Aug. 20, 2011 at the Hospice of Hope Inpatient Center in Seaman.
He was born Aug. 22, 1943 in Pine Hill, Ky., the son of the late Luther and Gracie Jones Kirby.
Mr. Kirby had owned and operated Kirby’s Upholstery in Lynchburg for many years. He was the pastor of the Mission Family Church near Piketon and had attended the Hillsboro Church of God.
He is survived by his wife, Anna Hayes Kirby, whom he had married on Oct. 20, 1961; three daughters, Bonnie (David Castaneda) Brown of Erlanger, Ky., Susan (Rodney) Stapleton of Wilmington and Angela (Aaron) Alexander of Wilmington; one son, Darrell (Shelly) Kirby of Lynchburg; 12 grandchildren, Shad Brown, Seth Kirby, Shawndra Slack, Ashley Steiner, Amanda Kirby, T.J. Stapleton, Lea Jones, Samantha Kirby, Owen Kirby, Sara Pfeifer, Trevor Alexander and Lydia Alexander; four great-grandchildren; two sisters, Willetta Owens of Mt. Vernon, Ky. and Mildred Owens of Orlando, Ky.; two brothers, Donald Kirby of Conyers, Ga. and Billy Joe Kirby of Blanchester.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by one brother, James Kirby; one sister, Loretta Thomas; and six infant sisters.
Services will be held 1 p.m. Tuesday, Aug. 23 at the Mission Family Church, 718 Mt. Etna Road, Piketon, Ohio 45661. Pastor John Maggard and Pastor James Brown will officiate. Burial will follow in the Mt. Etna Cemetery. Friends may call on Monday from 5-8 p.m. at the Hillsboro Church of God.
