Frederick M. Wherry
Frederick Max Wherry, 82, of Hillsboro, died Tuesday, March 27, 2012 at his home with his family by his side.
He was born Feb. 25, 1929, in Portland, Indiana the son of the late Kenneth and Mildred Tharp Wherry.
He was a member of the United States Navy, serving during WW II, and retired from Quality Distribution after 22 years of service. He was a loving husband and father, a friend to many, and will be greatly missed.
He is survived by his wife of 45 years, Rita Kaye Badgely Wherry, to whom he was married April 16, 1967; children, Jacquelyn Wherry of Hillsboro, Samantha Wherry of Dayton, Chris (Ramona) Wherry of Indiana, Tracy (Randy) Evans of
Indiana, and Tim (Cheryl) Hall of Virginia; 12 grandchildren, Frederick, Ryen, Amber, Kristen, Vince, Amanda, Zach, Trevor, Justin, Loren, Skylyn, and Corey; three great-grandchildren, Collin, Samuel, and Anthony; and brother Robert (Donna) Wherry of Indiana. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his sister, Betty Crist.
Services will be 1 p.m. Friday, March 30 at the Turner & Son Funeral Home, Hillsboro. The Rev. Gene Martin will officiate. Burial will follow in the Woodlawn Cemetery in Bowersville, where the Highland County Honor Guard will accord Military Honors. Visitation will be held from 11- a.m.1 p.m. at the funeral home.
