Floyd W. Bartley, 77, of Greenfield, died Sunday, Feb. 14, 2010 at University Medical Center in Columbus.
He was born May 24, 1932 near Greenfield to the late Roy W. and Reba Mae (Grogg) Bartley.
A U.S. Navy veteran of the Korean Conflict, Floyd was a retired electrician and formerly operated the Kaluau Kreme in Greenfield. He was a member and deacon at the Greenfield First Baptist Church, a past president of the Greenfield Rotary Club, a Paul Harris Fellow, a member of Greenfield Lodge #318 F. & A.M., the Concerned Veterans of Greenfield, a board member of Home Building & Loan Co., and past president of the National Fast Food & Frozen Dessert Association.
On Jan. 28, 1955, he married the former Elizabeth Wagoner, who survives. Also surviving are two children, Tina (Roy) Nutt of Lynchburg and David "Cleve" (Penny) Bartley of Greenfield; four grandchildren, Elizabeth (Ben) Fryman of Leesburg, Ian (Angie) Trefz of Greenfield, Mike Gilbert of Greenfield, and Brian Gilbert of Fla.; eight great-grandchildren, Devin, Dylan, and Destiny Trefz, Lillian Fryman, and Landen, Elaine, Gabe, and Lilly Gilbert; three sisters, Marlene (Gene) Gillespie, Betty Jackman, and Reba "Susie" Clay, all of Greenfield; and two brothers, Donald (Dixie) Bartley of Greenfield and Lee (Kay) Bartley of New Vienna.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his stepfather, Clyde W. Penwell, and a brother, Darrell Penwell.
Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Thursday, Feb. 18, 2010 at Greenfield First Baptist Church, with the Revs. Timothy Mohon, Mark Click, and Mark Current officiating. Burial will follow in South Salem Cemetery, with military honors accorded by the Concerned Veterans of Greenfield. Friends may call 4-8 p.m. Wednesday at Anderson-Strueve Funeral Home, Greenfield, with a Masonic Service at 8 p.m., followed by a Veterans Appreciation Service.
