Floyd Eugene Lane, 69, of Leesburg, passed away Thursday, Sept. 22, 2011 at his home.
He was born Nov. 17, 1941 in Hillsborough, N.C., the son of Richard A. and Gertrude T. (Thompson) Lane.
He was a longtime sheet metal fabricator and recently retired from Ahresty Wilmington Corporation. He was an avid North Carolina Tar Heels fan.
He is survived by his wife, Janette Elizabeth (Stone) Lane, whom he married on Sept. 25, 1982; one son, Floyd Eugene (Sherry) Lane, Jr. of Xenia; one daughter, Teresa Doreen (Tim Mossbarger) of Washington C.H.; two stepdaughters, Virginia Marie (James) Hudnell of Greenfield and Sandra Smalley (William) Helsel of New Holland; grandchildren, Joshua, Jason, Kyle, Wesley and Caleb Lane, Tad, Rex and Amanda Jones, Danielle Camp, Anthony and Felicia Hester, and Kurt and Kari Helsel; 10 great-grandchildren; and one sister, Alice Faye Johnson of North Carolina.
He was preceded in death by one son, Richard Curtis Lane; one infant granddaughter, Melony Hester; two brothers, Herman and Ogalee Lane; one sister, Ruby Perry; and both parents.
Funeral services will be held 2 p.m. Tuesday, Sept. 27, 2011 at the Murray-Fettro Funeral Home in Greenfield with Pastor Bruce Morrison officiating. Burial will follow in the Greenfield Cemetery. Visitation will be from 6-9 p.m. Monday.
