Ella Mae Karnes, 86, of Greenfield, died Tuesday, Jan. 3, 2012 at the Highland District Hospital.
She was born in Highland County on July 23, 1925 the daughter of the late J.D. and Nellie (Whisler) Ross.
Besides her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband Paul Karnes on Oct. 8, 2006; and three brothers, Harry Ross, John Ross and Paul Ross.
She was a member of the Fall Creek Friends Church, Highland County Senior Citizens, USFW and was a graduate of Greenfield McClain High School.
She is survived by one son and daughter-in-law, Kenneth and Dr. Julie Karnes of Hillsboro; one daughter and son-in-law, Judy and Samuel Rudy of Hillsboro; one brother and sister-in-law, Jim and Glenna Ross of Hillsboro; one sister, Doris Hackney; five grandsons, Kevin and Ian Karnes of Greenfield, Matthew (Penny) Rudy of Croton, Howard (Kristy) Rudy of Hillsboro and Joshua (Adrienne) Rudy of Hillsboro; and nine great-grandchildren, Zachary, Joseph, Spencer, Rachel, Abbie, Noah, Ashley, Jayden and Jackson.
Funeral services will be held on Friday, Jan. 6, 2012 at 10 a.m. at the Thompson Funeral Home with Scott Lattimer officiating. Burial will follow in the Stringtown Cemetery.
Friends may call on Thursday evening from 5-8 p.m. at the Thompson Funeral Home.
