Eldon M. Pence, 89, of Middletown, died Thursday, Sept. 29, 2011 at Liberty of Middletown.

He was born June 30, 1922 in Hillsboro, to Homer and Myrtle (Murphy) Pence.

He served during World War II in the U.S. Army with an honorable discharge. He was owner of Pence’s Market for 47 years, retiring in 1994. He was a former member and trustee at Faith United Methodist Church and then transferred to Hope United Methodist Church in Hunter. He enjoyed golf, the Cleveland Browns and loved to vacation in Florida.

He was preceded in death by his parents and step-mother, Estaline Pence.

He is survived by his wife, Betty Pence of 70 years; sons, Robert E. (Cindy) Pence of Franklin; daughter, Becky (Earl) Feltner of Middletown; grandchildren, Maria (Matt) Allen, Amie and Tyler Pence and Britt and Ian Feltner; great-grandchild, Madison Baker; half-brother, Jim Pence of Miami, Fla., and half-sister, Phyllis Pence of South Carolina.

The family would like to thank the staff at Liberty of Middletown and to Dr. Jarrett for all their special care. Visitation will be held Tuesday, Oct. 4 from 6-8 p.m. at Baker-Stevens-Parramore Funeral Home. A Celebration of Life Service will be held on Wednesday, Oct. 5 at 11 a.m. at the funeral home with Jerry Minor officiating.

Interment will follow at Woodside Cemetery with Middletown Combined Honor Guard services. Memorial contributions may be made to the Hope United Methodist Church, 3642 Shaker Road, Franklin, Ohio 45005.
