Edward Lee Wilson, 75, of Greenfield died Monday, Jan. 9, 2012 at Adena Regional Medical Center in Chillicothe.
He was born April 8, 1936 in Greenfield, the son of Furman and Margaret (Marcum) Wilson.
He was a 1954 graduate of the Edward Lee McClain High School. He retired from the U.S. Navy Seabees after 20 years of service, which included the Vietnam War. He also retired from the Waddell Showcase Manufacturing (Ghent). He was an active member of the Eagles Lodge 1325 serving as president, vice president, chaplain, district officer, and past Ohio state officer, and many other positions. He was also an active member of the VFW Post 4736 and a life member of Navy Seabee Veterans of America, Island X-1, Cincinnati, Ohio. He enjoyed woodworking, traveling around the country visiting family, attending many Seabee reunions and visiting his retired Seabee friends.
He is survived by his wife, Janice Brewer Welch Wilson, whom he married on April 24, 2004; six children, Timothy and Karen Wilson of Leesburg, Kandice and Ron Merrill of Louisiana, Carol and Mike Diorio of California, Barbara and Gregg Pavey of Texas, Tim and Marica Welch of New Mexico, and Keith Welch of Chillicothe; 18 grandchildren, 16 great-grandchildren, numerous nieces and nephews, and long-time special friends, Betty Jackman and Stephanie Jury.
He was preceded in death by a wife, Carrie Jeanette Wilson; one brother, Don M. Wilson; two sisters, Barbara Ann Miller and Margie S. Wilson; and both parents.
Services will be held 2 p.m. Friday, Jan. 13 at the Murray-Fettro Funeral Home in Greenfield with the Rev. Dennis Brewer officiating. Burial will follow in the Greenfield Cemetery with military rites performed by the Concerned Veterans of Greenfield.
Visitation will be from 5-8 p.m. Thursday with Veterans Appreciation Service to be held at 8 p.m. and followed by an Eagles service.
