Edna Snyder, 101, of Hillsboro, passed away Tuesday, Oct. 2, 2012 at Heartland of Hillsboro.
She was born on Sept. 25, 1911, in Adams County, the daughter of the late Joseph and Effie (Shanks) Hilderbran.
She attended the Fall Creek Friends Church, where she was very active in sewing lap robes for others and cooking for social events at the church. She lived on the farm most of her life and enjoyed her garden and making sure everybody enjoyed some of its bounties. She was a very loving mother, grandmother and friend and will be greatly missed by all who loved her.
On Sept. 24, 1936, she was united in marriage to her husband of 54 years, Fred L. Snyder, and he preceded her in death in 1990.
To this union was born one son, Freddie Snyder and his wife Carol of Leesburg. She is also survived by two grandchildren, Roger (Charity) Snyder of Hillsboro and Regina Lea Bennett; four great-grandchildren, Jeffrey, Madison, Alex and Sarah; one brother, Otto (Flora) Hilderbran of Locust Grove; a sister, Evalena Mustard of Rainsboro; several nieces and nephews; and two special friends, Jane Karnes and Sandy Tompkins.
In addition to her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by two brothers, one sister, a brother-in-law and a sister-in-law.
Funeral services will be 11 a.m. Monday, Oct. 8, 2012 at the Fall Creek Friends Church. Pastors H. Scott Latimer and Mike Hodge will officiate. Burial will follow in the Gilboa Cemetery. Calling hours will be from 4-7 p.m. on Sunday, Oct. 7 at the Fall Creek Friends Church.
