Dr. Robert William Bohl, 91, died peacefully, listening to classical music on his beloved WOSU FM 101.1 on Saturday, Feb. 18, 2012 at his home.

He was born Oct. 4, 1920 in Hillsboro, the son of the late Dr. Jesse C. and Nan (Moore) Bohl.

Bob graduated from Hillsboro High School, Denison University and The Ohio State University, where he received his medical degree in 1945. Following his internship at White Cross Hospital, Bob served in the U.S. Army Medical Corps. He then spent three years as a resident in internal medicine and cardiology in Louisville, Ky. and Columbus. He practiced medicine in Upper Arlington for over 40 years. Bob belonged to the American Medical Association, the Columbus Academy of Medicine, Phi Chi Medical Fraternity, Scioto Country Club and First Community Church. He loved his family life, the practice of medicine and had a great love of nature: fishing, hiking, biking and golf.

In addition to his parents, Bob was preceded in death by his twin sister, Betty (James) Ryan; his daughter, Marilyn McCreary; and his grandson, Jonathan Bohl.

He is survived by his wife of 67 years, Marjorie (Reinert) Bohl; his sons, Dr. William R. (Saundra) Bohl of Shaker Heights, Ohio, Dr. R. Daniel (Brigid) Bohl of Edenton, N.C. and Dr. John E. (Dr. Jennifer Lance) Bohl, of Hillsboro; his son-in-law, Charles “Dusty” (Connie) McCreary, of New Albany; his brother-in-law, Dr. R. Edward (Barbara) Reinert, of Northport, Mich.; his beloved grandchildren, Dr. Jennifer (Dr. Aiden Johnson) Bohl, Michael Bohl, Dr. Casey (Amy) Bohl, David (Kristy) Bohl, Lindsey Bohl, Dr. Matthew McCreary, Charles “Chip” McCreary, Lisa McCreary (Tim) Ferriter, Thomas Bohl, Elizabeth Bohl, Katherine and Daniel Bohl; and great-grandson, Jack Boot Johnson. Also, he loved Carly (Harold) Laney and Reid Johnston.

Family will receive friends from 3-6 p.m. Wednesday, Feb. 22, 2012 at Schoedinger Northwest Chapel, 1740 Zollinger Road, Upper Arlington. At his request, there will be no other services. There will be a private family burial at a later date.
