Douglas B. Conklin, 89, of Waverly, formerly of Greenfield, passed away Tuesday, April 24, 2012 at Traditions at Bristol Village in Waverly.
He was born Oct. 4, 1922 in Clark County, Ohio, the son of James A. Conklin and Lora May (Brown) Conklin.
He retired in 1976 from Armco in Washington C.H. after 30 years of employment. He was a member of the American Legion the D.A.V. and served with the U.S. Marines during World War II.
He is survived by three sons, Douglas Lee Conklin of Chillicothe, Mike (Judy) Conklin of Greenfield and Ron (Joyce) Conklin of Leesburg; one daughter, Debbie Wilson of Westerville; five grandchildren; numerous great grandchildren; and one sister, Joyce (Jack) Addis of South Carolina.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Roselle (West) Conklin, who died Aug. 2, 2005; one daughter, Peggy Geis; and both parents.
Funeral services will be 11 a.m. Monday, April 30 at the Murray-Fettro Funeral Home in Greenfield, with Don Ringer officiating and burial to follow in the Greenfield Cemetery with military rites provided by the Concerned Veterans of Greenfield.
Visitation will be from 2-4 p.m. Sunday at the funeral home with Veteran’s Appreciation service to begin at 4 p.m.
