Dorothy (Perdue) Sowards, 68, of Peebles, died Monday, Aug. 8, 2011 at her residence.

She was born in Hamilton County on April 26, 1943, the daughter of the late John and Virginia (Shields) Perdue.

She attended Peebles Holiness Mission.

She is survived by her husband, Guy Sowards of Peebles, whom she married on May 26, 1962; four sons and daughters-in-law, John and Penny of Rarden, Jeff and Tracy of Peebles, Eddie and Linda Mae of McDermott, and Darin Sowards of Peebles; one daughter and son-in-law, Linda and George Larter of West Union; one brother, Donald Perdue of Rarden; five sisters, Barbara Cline of West Union, Susie Collins of Donaldsville, Diane Nave of Kentucky, Mary Rolfe of Peebles, and Brenda Massey of West Union; and seven grandchildren.

Funeral services will be held on Wednesday, Aug. 10 at 1 p.m. at the Wallace-Thompson Funeral Home in Peebles, with Charlene Toller officiating. Burial will follow in Washburn Cemetery.

Friends may call on Wednesday from 11 a.m.-1 p.m. at the Wallace-Thompson Funeral Home in Peebles.
