Dorothy Helterbrand, 91, of the Carmel community, died Thursday, Jan. 17, 2013 at Heartland of Hillsboro.

She was born on Jan. 1, 1921, the daughter of the late Jimmy Joe and Lula Agatha (Beekman) Miller.

Besides her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, James Russell Helterbrand, who died on March 14, 2009; son-in-law, Bob Garen; two brothers, Kenneth and Frank Miller; three sisters, Marjorie White, Irene Reed and Helen Robson.

She was a member of Cynthiana Church of Christ in Christian Union.

She is survived by two sons, Wilbur (Barbara) Helterbrand of Carmel, and Glenn (May) Helterbrand of Carmel; one daughter, Carolyn Garen of Carmel; six grandchildren, Tim (Sherri) Helterbrand, James (Pagle) Helterbrand, Glenda (David) Puckett, Wayne (Shawna) Helterbrand, Rita (Roger) Dailey, and Jeff Garen; and 16 great-grandchildren.

Services will be 2 p.m. Sunday, Jan. 20 at Thompson Funeral Home in Hillsboro. Burial will follow in the Pleasant Hill Cemetery in Sinking Spring.

Friends may call from 11 a.m.-2 p.m. at the Thompson Funeral Home.
