Donzie Z. Davis, 87, of Hillsboro died Saturday, Feb. 25, 2012 at his home.
He was born Oct. 6, 1924 in Hurricane, W.Va., the son of William Ernest and Dimmie Alva (Jolly) Davis.
Mr. Davis served in the U.S. Navy during World War II and was a farmer and well driller.
He is survived by four daughters, Diana (Leroy) Storts of Greenfield, Jackie (Earl) Brown of Hillsboro, Kimberly (Steven) Sever of Greenfield and Tracy (Dale) Davis of Hillsboro; one son, Ricky Davis of Hillsboro; 10 grandchildren, Bobby and Billy Carter, Shane and Shawn Storts, Dana Brown, Dinah Little, Josh Brown, Jerrod Davis, and Brent and Brandon Harperee; 14 great-grandchildren; several great-great-grandchildren; a family friend, David Starkey; and numerous nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Thelma M. Davis, on July 28, 2009; three sisters, Maxine Sowards, Pansy Putney and Imogene Davis; one brother, Merrill Davis.
Services will be 11 a.m. Thursday, March 1 at the Murray-Fettro Funeral home in Greenfield with Pastor David Williamson officiating. Burial will follow in Resthaven Memory Gardens in Hillsboro with military rites to be performed by the Concerned Veterans of Greenfield.
Visitation will be held 4-7 p.m. Wednesday at the funeral home with Veterans Appreciation Service to begin at 7 p.m.
