Donald Eugene "Gene" Dixon
Donald Eugene “Gene” Dixon, 87, of Hillsboro died Saturday, Dec. 1, 2012 at the Bethesda North Hospital in Montgomery.
He was born Sept. 17, 1925 in Bridges, the son of the late Gerald and Leola Perie Dixon.
Mr. Dixon had retired after 36 years of service with Cincinnati Milacron as an electrician. He was a U.S. Army Veteran of World War II and a member of the Highland County Antique Machinery Club.
He is survived by his wife, Wilma Jean Current Dixon, whom he married on Dec. 21, 1951 in Leesburg; one daughter, Lisa (Terry) Lucas of Leesburg; one son, Lindy (Dee) Dixon of Leesburg; eight grandchildren, Tausha (Brett) Barton, Carly Haines, Casey and Chase Polley, Donnie Ward, Jamie Rothe, Hunter and Tanner Dixon; and 11 great-grandchildren.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by two brothers, Charles and Robert Dixon.
Services will be 1 p.m. Wednesday at the Leesburg Friends Church. Pastor John Fitzgerald will officiate. Burial with military honors presented by the Highland County Honor Guard will follow in the Hardin’s Creek Cemetery at Bridges.
Friends may call on Wednesday from 11 a.m. until 1 p.m. at the Leesburg Friends Church.
