Dentie M. Grooms, 92, of Bloomingburg, passed away Wednesday, Oct. 10, 2012 at Court House Manor of Washington C.H.

She was born on Oct. 3, 1920 in West Union, the daughter of John and Amanda Mae McCarty.

She attended West Union Schools and graduated from the eighth grade with Box Well Honor Test. Later, she married Virgil Jackson Grooms, and together they decided to move to Highland County to begin their life as young farmers.

She is survived by three daughters, Mary Mill (Dewey) Hollingsworth of Wilmington, Doris Jean (Frank) Helsel of Washington C.H. and Patricia Ann Nicodemies of Cincinnati; one son, Tommy Jackson Grooms of Apple Valley, Calif.; grandchildren, Rick (Deb) Hollingworth, Kim Annette (Mac) Blankenbeckler, Phillip (Linda) Hollingsworth, Teresa Ann (Sam) Grooms, Bartley Delano (Sherry) Helsel, Brad Scott (Kristen) Helsel, Sierra Landacre, Jeff (Kim) Swearringen and Cheryl (George) Beaudion; great-grandchildren, Darious and Alysse Stewart, Caleb, Candi and Lauren Hollingsworth and William, Patty, Beau and A.J. Blankenbeckler; numerous great-great-grandchildren; two sisters, Mabel Britain of Hillsboro and Dorothy McCarty Hamilton of Washington C.H.; and many nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Virgil Jackson Grooms, five brothers, Estel, Richard, Emery, Emerson and Delmar McCarty; one sister, Betty Brown; and both parents.

Funeral services will be held 1 p.m. Monday, Oct. 15, 2012 at the Murray-Fettro Funeral Home in Greenfield. Burial will follow in the Good Hope Cemetery.

Visitation will be from 11 a.m. Monday until time of service.
