Delmar Mayhugh, 90, of Hillsboro, died Saturday, Feb. 25, 2012 at his home with his family by his side.
He was born Aug. 19, 1921 in Edenton, Ohio, the son of the late Harry and Stella Fawley Mayhugh.
Delmar was a veteran of the United States Army, serving during World War II as a corporal. He was a 1939 graduate of Hillsboro High School and had been in the real estate business in Hillsboro and the surrounding area for more than 35 years. He was associated with several local real estate companies and was partner in Hunter, Mayhugh and Wilson Real Estate in Hillsboro. In his younger years, he played softball with several teams. In recent years, he enjoyed bowling and playing golf. He enjoyed watching all sports, but most especially football and baseball.
Delmar is survived by his wife of nearly 63 years, Dolores Eileen Rhodes Mayhugh, to whom he was married March 19, 1949 in Maysville, Ky.; two sons, Michael Mayhugh of Lebanon and Thomas Mayhugh of Hillsboro; two grandchildren, Trevor Mayhugh of Lebanon and Lacy Mayhugh of Hillsboro; good friends and brothers-in-law Dwight Hedrick of Washington Court House and Jim Cummings of Mowrystown; and several nieces and nephews.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his siblings, Doyle Mayhugh, Bonnie Cummings, William Gulick and Doris McClain.
Graveside funeral services will be held 2 p.m. Wednesday, Feb. 29, 2012 at the New Market Cemetery. John Dobbins will officiate. There will be no public visitation.
