Delbert P. Everhart, 81, of Greenfield, passed away Thursday, Feb. 16 at Country Glenn Nursing and Therapy Center in Washington C.H.
He was born May 13, 1930 in Ross County, the youngest son of Roy Robert and Anna Birdena (McKeever) Everhart.
He proudly served in the U.S. Marine Corps during the Korean War. A former employee of the U.S. Shoe Corp, he retired in 1996 from the Final Test Department of the Kenworth Truck Company in Chillicothe. He was an active member of the Sunnyside Chapel CCCU for several years, serving in the offices of youth ministry, missionary, Sunday School teacher and First Elder. Presently a member of the First Baptist Church in Greenfield, he served for many years as head of First Baptist Volunteers at Greenfield Area Christian Center Food Pantry, hauling and distributing food. Whether working at church, helping family or neighbors or being a friend, he was always there to help anyone in need.
He is survived by his wife, Mary L. (Gray) Everhart, whom he married on July 1, 1955; one daughter, Julie (Charles) Borger of Washington C.H.; one sister, Jean Risner of Mansfield; several nieces and nephews; and special nieces Ann Meyer of Greenfield and Sharon Schlagheck of Swanton.
He was preceded in death by both parents; four brothers, Ray Everhart, Virgil Everhart, Emery Everhart and Harold Everhart; and three sisters, Flora Shadley, Opal Copas and Essie Seely.
Funeral services will be held 11 a.m. Tuesday, Feb. 21 at the Murray-Fettro Funeral Home in Greenfield with Pastor Tim Mohon officiating. Burial will follow in the Greenfield Cemetery with military rites provided by the Concerned Veterans of Greenfield.
Visitation will be from 4-8 p.m. Monday, Feb. 20 with veterans appreciation service to be held at 8 p.m.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the First Baptist Church of Greenfield, 250 Lafayette Street, Greenfield, Ohio 45123.
