David Wesley Pence
David Wesley Pence, 66, of Hillsboro, died Wednesday, March 9, 2011 at the Miami Valley Hospital in Dayton.
He was born Sept. 12, 1944 in Hillsboro, the son of the late Wesley Ralph and Sarah Rogers Pence.
Pence had practiced law in Hillsboro for 37 years, starting a partnership with his father, W. Ralph Pence.
He attended Hillsboro High School and graduated in 1962 from Howie Academy in Howie-In-The-Hills, Florida. He attended the University of Kentucky and received his bachelor's degree from Georgetown College in Kentucky. He was a 1973 graduate of Capital University in Columbus, where he received his Juris Doctorate. He was a member of the Ohio Bar Association, the Highland County Bar Association, the Hillsboro BPOE 361, the Highland Lodge 38 F &AM and the Scottish Rite Valley of Cincinnati (32nd degree). He had served as a drug enforcement agent with the Ohio Attorney General and had served as assistant prosecuting attorney in Highland County for four years.
He is survived by his wife, Sandy Farmer Pence, whom he married on Oct. 24, 1994 in Las Vegas, Nevada; two children, Wesley (Evelyn) Pence of Newport, Ky., and Nina Pence of Greenfield; two stepchildren, Gina (Rick) McGraw of Berea, Ky., and Pari Cooper of Leesburg; two grandchildren, Wesley Wyatt and Alice Pence; five stepgrandchildren, Haleigh, Noah, Savannah and Major McGraw, and Levi Cooper; one sister, Madeleine (John) Crouse of Terrace Park; and one brother, Ralph "Buddy" (Marilyn) Pence of Hillsboro.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his twin sister, Diana Rhody; and a sister, Patricia Ann Pence.
Memorial services will be held Saturday, March 12 at 6:30 p.m. in Robinson Hall at the Hillsboro First United Methodist Church.
The family will receive friends in Robinson Hall on Saturday from 4-6:30 p.m.
