David Everett Hardy, 94, of Greenfield, died at 1:50 p.m. on Friday, Nov. 4, 2011 at Mount Carmel West Hospital, Columbus.
He was born on August 12, 1917 in Ross County, the son of Charles E. and Gertrude (Chapman) Hardy.
He owned Hardy Memorials in Greenfield for 50 years and was a former employee of the B & O Railroad. He was a 1936 graduate of Frankfort High School. He served in the U.S. Army during World War II.
Survivors include three daughters, Connie Hill of Powell, OH, Elaine (Bill) Karn of Bexley, and Tiffany Hardy of Greenfield; one son, Jay (Beth) Hardy of Greenfield; seven grandchildren, Colby (Lindsey) Karn, Courtney Karn, Will Hardy, Dallas Quinonez, Lanie Ferrell, Kadence Ferrell, and Curtis Ferrell, Jr.; great-grandson, Maxwell David Karn; sister-in-laws, Carol Hardy of Frankfort, Ginny Hardy of Florida, and Lorraine Barney of Columbus; special friend, Marilyn Raike of Greenfield; and several nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Florence (Bryant) Hardy; one sister, Mabel Ransdell; three brothers, Joseph Hardy, John Hardy, and Bob Hardy; and both parents.
Service will be held at 2 p.m. on Tuesday, Nov. 8 at the Murray-Fettro Funeral Home of Greenfield, with Pastor Mike Anderson officiating. Burial will follow in the Greenfield Cemetery with military rites to be provided by the Concerned Veterans of Greenfield.
Friends may call at the funeral home on Tuesday from noon-2 p.m. Veterans Appreciation Service will be held at 2 p.m.
