Dane E. Iseman, 89, of Greenfield, passed away Saturday, April 7, 2012 at his home.

He was born Sept. 13, 1922, in Greenfield, the son of Maple Dane Iseman and Elsie Carson Iseman.

He was involved in the operation of the family business, the Greenfield Grain and Hay Company, for 40 years. He became the owner in 1960 and retired in 1985. He also served on the Board of Directors of the Home Building & Loan beginning in 1974 and served as president from 1984 until his retirement from the board in 2011. He was a 1940 graduate of Edward Lee McClain High School and a 1944 graduate of Ohio University. He was a member of the Elks, American Legion and Masonic Lodge and a long-time member of the Greenfield First United Methodist Church.

He was an officer in the U.S. Army Air Corps, where he served as a Navigator in C46s and C47s in the European Theatre during World War II.

He is survived by one daughter, Susan E. Hallows of Greenfield; one son, Stephen D. (Sue) Iseman of Greenfield; three grandchildren, S. Dane Iseman of Key West, Fla., Alissa (Shawn) Sterling of Delphos, and Jonathan Iseman of Ada; three great-grandchildren, Rye Iseman of Key West, Fla., Jacob Sterling and Evan Sterling both of Delphos.

His wife, Mary Joy Iseman, on Nov. 6, 2008, one daughter, Judy Iseman, and both parents preceded him in death.

Funeral service will be 10 a.m. Thursday, April 12, at the Murray-Fettro Funeral Home in Greenfield with the Rev. James Groves officiating. Burial will follow in the Greenfield Cemetery with military rites to be provided by the Concerned Veterans of Greenfield.

Visitation will be from 4-8 p.m. Wednesday, with Veterans Appreciation service to begin at 8 p.m.
