Curtis Eugene Cockerill, 81, of Frankfort, died Monday, March 7, 2011 at his home.
He was born May 24, 1929 in New Martinsburg, the son of Paul Curtis and Orpha Marie (Miller) Cockerill.
Mr. Cockerill was a lifelong farmer and also a real estate agent for several years. He was a 1947 graduate of Frankfort High School and a member of the Austin United Methodist Church.
He is survived by his wife, Virginia Mae (Wisecup) Cockerill, whom he married July 9, 1951; three sons, Paul (Janie) Cockerill of Greenfield, Bryan (Annette) Cockerill of Hillsboro and Richard (Amy) Cockerill of Greenfield; one daughter, Connie Winegar of Bloomingburg; 10 grandchildren, John Nathan Cockerill, Tate (Cory) Cockerill, Chase (Sarah) Winegar, Seth Winegar, Elizabeth Cockerill, David Cockerill, Ethan Cockerill, Samantha Cockerill, Caitlin Cockerill and Caleb Cockerill; two great-grandchildren, Otis Cockerill and Lyla Cockerill; two sisters, Betty DeWitt of Frankfort and Beatrice (Robert) Starr of Washington C.H.; numerous nieces, nephews and cousins; and a special son, Mark DeWitt of Frankfort.
He was preceded in death by a son-in-law, Steven Winegar; a brother-in-law, Ralph DeWitt; and both parents.
Services will be held at 1 p.m. Friday, March 11 at the Murray-Fettro Funeral Home in Greenfield. Otis Wagner will officiate. Burial will be in the Greenlawn Cemetery in Frankfort.
Visitation will be held from 5-8 p.m. Thursday at the funeral home.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Austin United Methodist Church, 30 Church St., Frankfort, Ohio 45628; or the Concorde Township Emergency Squad, 27 West Springfield St., Frankfort, Ohio 45628.
