Charles A. Schirmer, 77, of Hillsboro, died Thursday, Jan. 12, 2012 at his residence in Hillsboro.

He was born Feb. 7, 1935 in Clermont County, the son of the late Charles and Clara Langhauser Schirmer.

Mr. Schirmer had retired from the General Motors Corporation after 34 years of service. He was a member of St. Mary Catholic Church in Hillsboro and was a volunteer at the Highland District Hospital.

He is survived by his wife, Sue Hubbs Schirmer; two children, Grace Schirmer of Hillsboro and Brian Schirmer of Wilmington; one brother, Edward Schirmer of Mt. Orab; six grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his daughter, Tammie Preston; four sisters, Catherine Bene, Celia Wiesenhahn, Martha Behymer and Agnes O'Dell; and two brothers, Arnold and Gerald Schirmer.

Graveside services for family and friends will be held 11 a.m. Saturday, May 19 at the Hamer Township Cemetery. Father Mike Paraniuk will officiate. There will be no visitation. The Turner & Son Funeral Home and Crematory is serving the family.
