Charles Ennis Slagle, 74, of Greenfield, died Sunday, Oct. 30, 2011 at Hearth and Care Rehabilitation and Nursing.

He was born March 14, 1937 in Greenfield; the son of Clinton Ennis and Elizabeth (Steele) Slagle.

He retired in 1997 from Cryovac, a division of W.R. Grace and Company, where he served as district sales manager. After retirement, he returned to farming and raising sheep. He was a 1955 graduate of the Edward Lee McClain High School and a 1962 graduated of the Ohio State University. He served in the U.S. Army during the Korean War. He was a former member of the Greenfield Rotary Club.

He is survived by his wife, Alice Jane (Neiser) Slagle, whom he married on June 7, 1964; one daughter, Susan Jane (Yoshi) Mochinzuki of Davis, Calif.; two sons, David (Susan Smith) Slagle and Christopher Eric Slagle, both of Greenfield; two grandsons, Christopher Koki Mochinzuki and Charles David Mason Slagle; one granddaughter, Carman Kay Kinmon; one sister, Gretchen Slagle (Ron) Schoemer of Upper Arlington; one nephew, Scott Slagle Schoemer of Upper Arlington; two great-nieces; and one great-nephew.

He was preceded in death by both parents.

There will be no visitation observed. Graveside services will be held 3 p.m. Thursday, Nov. 3, 2011 at the Greenfield Cemetery with Pastor Joe Current officiating. The Murray-Fettro Funeral Home in Greenfield is serving the family.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the McClain Alumni Association, in memory of Charles Ennis Slagle, in care of the Home Building and Loan Company, P.O. Box 217, Greenfield, Ohio 45123.
