Charles David “Woody” Woodyard, 76, of Lynchburg, died Tuesday, Feb. 8, 2011 at the Highland District Hospital.
He was born April 29, 1934, in Allensburg, Ohio, the son of the late Wilbur James and Elma Hazel Murphy Woodyard.
He retired from the Irwin Auger Bit Company in Wilmington after more than 35 years of service. Woody enjoyed hunting, fishing and woodworking.
He is survived by his best friend and companion, Ruth Florence; children, Charles “Chuck” (Dara Gullette) Woodyard of Hillsboro, Elma C. (Rusty Stegbauer) Florence of Lynchburg, and Timothy D. (Shauna) Woodyard of Blanchester; siblings, Hattie Compher of Greenfield, Harry Lee (Phyllis) Woodyard of Crown City, Ohio, Glenna (Adrion) Mullins of Johnstown, Ohio, John (Mary) Woodyard of Allensburg, and Carolyn (Chuck) Collins of Hillsboro; grandchildren, Cassidy (Zach) Eyre of Lynchburg, Britt (Heather) Woodyard of Leesburg, Carrie Barber of Milford, Casey Woodyard of Hillsboro, Travis (Ashley) Florence of St. Martin, Christian Woodyard of Blanchester, and Madison Woodyard of Blanchester; great-grandchildren, Faith, Hope, Isaac, Brayden, Hayleigh, Trenton, Madilyn and Caitlyn; and several nieces and nephews.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by five siblings, James Robert Woodyard, Wilbur Ray Woodyard, Mary Virginia Lauder, Dorothy Jean Ballard and Christine Shoemaker.
Funeral services will be held 1 p.m. Saturday, February 12, 2011 at the Davis-Turner Funeral Home, Lynchburg. Burial will follow in the Barnes Cemetery. Visitation will be held on Saturday from 11 a.m. until the time of the service at 1 p.m. at the funeral home.
